1,200 gear up for national finswimming event | Pune News

Around 1,200 players from all over India will gather in Pune for the third National Finswimming Championships 2023, taking place at Swimming Complex, Shivchatrapati Kreeda Sankul, Mahalunge Balewadi, from September 3 to 5.

The Underwater Sports Association of Maharashtra is hosting this emerging sport championship in Pune for three days, with participants coming from over 30 states, including union territories.

This is the third year in a row of finswimming’s championship, with the second time being hosted in Pune.

Talking about the glimpse of the event in a media conference held at PYC Hindu Gymkhana, Tapan Panigrahi, president of Underwater Sports Association of Maharashtra, said that the objective of the championship is to develop a new version of competitive swimming in India.

There are a total of 114 events to be held in the championship with the guidance of 85 Indian coaches and two international experts from Dubai and Egypt.
