The Pune unit of the Maharashtra Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday arrested a Shivajinagar court bailiff for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000 from a woman.
The accused has been identified as Lakshman Nathu Kale (40). ACB’s deputy superintendent of police Nitin Jadhav said a 29-year-old woman, who is party in a land dispute case filed in the civil court in Shivajinagar, lodged a complaint against Kale who works as a bailiff at the court.
According to the ACB, Kale allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 1,000 from the complainant for issuing summons in the case asking the respondents to appear before the court.
A team from the ACB verified the complaint and confirmed Kale had allegedly demanded a bribe for issuing the summons and submitting a report regarding it in court. ACB sleuths laid a trap and nabbed the bailiff red-handed when he was accepting the bribe from the woman at gate number 4 of Shivajinagar court on Friday. An FIR has been lodged against Kale at the Shivajinagar police station.

Meanwhile, in another action, an ACB team arrested an assistant engineer of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from an electrical contractor.
The accused has been identified as Ravindra Kanade (37), who is attached to the MSEDCL office in Baner.
According to the ACB, Kanade allegedly demanded the bribe for issuing a completion certificate regarding the government work done by the contractor.
