An 18-year-old hearing and speech impaired girl was allegedly raped in Malda district, police said on Friday. The incident took place on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, they added.
Police said the family has alleged that the girl was sleeping next to her mother on Thursday night and till 8pm was seen at home. “She later went out to attend nature’s call and then went missing,” police said.

“Around 6am, we started looking for her after she was found missing. We later found her inside a nearby school. She was only partially dressed. She also explained to us what happened using gestures and we brought her back home.
We have filed a police complaint at the local police station,” said one of the girl’s relatives.
“We have received a complaint. The girl was allegedly raped and left inside the school premises. It’s a two-storey building. She was found around 7:30 am,” said a police official. e
