Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu‘s Kushi, a romantic drama directed by Shiva Nirvana, will be released in theatres worldwide on September 1, 2023.
The film’s team is currently busy with promotions, and Vijay on Wednesday hosted a ‘National Q&A’ session for fans. During the session, the actor talked about Kushi and said, “Kushi is something that I’ve loved so much from the script stage, during production, and while promoting it. I believe the audience will cherish it and leave the theatre with big smiles.”
Talking about the film’s director, Shiva Nirvana, the Telugu star mentioned that he appreciates Shiva’s comedic writing. He added, “Shiva Nirvana is deeply passionate about cinema. His thoughts are always centered around the movie and its enhancement. When someone suggests a change, he considers how that change will elevate the scene. If it’s positive, he implements it.”
During the Q&A session, Samantha Ruth Prabhu joined in from America and shared her excitement about Kushi. Vijay had nothing but praise for Samantha’s commitment and dedication to the film.
Here are excerpts from Vijay Deverakonda’s Q&A session:
How was it working with Samantha in Kushi?
Samantha is intelligent. When Shiva and I discuss the movie, she contributes great ideas. We share many similarities. We come from middle-class families, so we have similar perspectives on money and life. Additionally, we both have a passion for history. Samantha is religious, and I have questions about spirituality. Working with Samantha was a delight.
What interests you apart from acting?
Direction excites me a lot. Sometime in the future, I would like to take a break from acting and delve into directing. However, when I read the scripts that come my way, I feel compelled to keep acting. As I’ve matured, I can put in more effort now. I intend to move towards directing at some point in the future.
How do you plan your leisure time?
I enjoy travelling and sports. Recently, I visited the Maldives, which felt like paradise. I also visited Kashmir during the shooting of Kushi, and it became my favourite place. I engage in basketball with my friends and love learning new things. I also brainstorm business ideas, which I frequently discuss with my family and team. I’ll be making an entrepreneurship announcement in the coming days.
How do you overcome failure?
Failure is inevitable for everyone at some point. I’ve experienced significant successes and failures in life. Many people discuss them publicly. I believe success and failure should be viewed as two sides of the same coin. Mistakes happen, and failures are valuable learning experiences. Life isn’t just about winning or losing; it’s about living. Take gradual steps toward your desired destination in life.
How would you like your spouse to be?
I desire a caring life partner. I often get engrossed in work and overlook basic things like meals. I hope to have a wife who can help me balance work and personal life. Currently, my mother takes care of me. I haven’t set a fixed time or date for marriage. When I feel ready for marriage, I’ll proceed. However, I don’t want the wedding to be rushed. But I won’t hide this from anyone.
Who is your inspiration?
I have ambitious goals in life, and those aspirations serve as my inspiration. That’s why I haven’t felt the need to look up to someone for inspiration. I’ve always dreamed of taking good care of my parents. I’ve witnessed struggles to pay rent and fulfill monthly needs. I aimed to rise above those challenges and find comfort. Additionally, I seek respect at home, within my family, and in society. Achieving these goals requires bold efforts. I believe both money and respect are crucial in life. I won’t tolerate disrespect from anyone.
How do you manage work-life balance?
My father used to emphasise that work outweighs spending time with family and friends. This mindset became deeply ingrained in me, leading me to work tirelessly. However, my perspective has shifted lately. I’ve started considering taking some time out to rest. I’ve just begun not working on Sundays and holidays, prioritising family time. I now take two or three days off between schedules and enjoy vacations.
Would you consider doing socio-fantasy films?
Most Read
The socio-fantasy genre is intriguing. However, such scripts are challenging to craft convincingly. If I come across compelling scripts in this genre, I would definitely take on those roles.
What is your favourite moment from a film?
When I watched Mahesh Babu’s entry in Pokiri, I felt this is heroism. That’s when I aspired to become an actor. I’d like to do a shot as a tribute to that scene in Pokiri.
What is your dream role?
I don’t have specific dream roles in mind. Kushi and my upcoming films VD12 and VD13 have exceptional scripts. I didn’t anticipate acting in such films, but I’m thrilled about them.
