A 25-year-old man was stabbed in Sector 22 mobile market on in the week hours Saturday.
According to the police, victim Deepak Thapa, a resident of Sector 38 West, went to the market to celebrate the birthday of one of his friend’s birthday when the incident took place around 1.30 am.
The police said that a verbal altercation was already going on between two groups and Deepak Thapa tried to intervene. In the melee, two unknown men stabbed the victim twice.

The victim was stabbed on the chest and back. Sources said that as Thapa fell on the road bleeding profusely, assailants fled the spot.
Thapa was then rushed to GMSH-16 by his friends in a car.
A police officer said, “We have lodged an FIR on the statement of the victim. The victim Deepak Thapa also has a criminal background. He claimed to identify the assailants if they are produced before him.”
A case was registered at Sector 17 Police station.
